Im nördlichen Teil von Sternenberg, Gemeinde Bauma, an äusserst idyllischer, ruhiger und sonniger Lage, befindet sich das Wohn- und Gruppenhaus “Alter Steinshof” mit insgesamt 14 sleeping rooms and 3 seminar rooms, a painting studio, as well as a swimming pool and sauna. The main building, which was originally built in 1865 and includes a restaurant and a flat above it, was significantly extended in the 1970s and in 1998. Today, the original building has a floor area of about 170 m² and the extensions have a further 350 m² of floor space (excluding the swimming pool of over 70 m²). The 11 bathrooms are divided into 5 bathrooms and 6 separate toilets. The total building volume GVZ is 2,593 m³, the land area of Kat. ST1527 is exactly 1,373 m². The masonry is plastered and painted (depending on the part of the building) or clad with shingles or wood. The pitched roofs are covered with tiles and/or eternit, in some areas also with corrugated eternit or sheet metal. The terrace has a wooden floor. In the original parts of the building, wooden beam ceilings were installed, in the extensions, concrete ceilings and/or wooden elements were used. Sternenberg is located at an altitude of 860 meters above sea level in the northern part of the municipality of Bauma, relatively close to the cantonal border with St. Gallen. The municipal building of Bauma, the post office, the bank and also extensive shopping facilities are about 6 kilometers away. The post office in Bauma also offers a home delivery service for the residents of Sternenberg.
