Description

In the heart of the picturesque and ancient center of the municipality of Gordola stand these romantic houses surrounded by roses, oleanders, palm trees and courtyards entwined with vine leaves.

Through the wrought-iron gate, walking over original cobblestones, you are greeted by an ensemble of different houses dating back to 1650.

This unique property, which looks like a village in its own right, has been painstakingly and meticulously renovated by a family with an affinity for architecture and brought up to the latest technical standards (electrics and plumbing). The technology in the houses can be conveniently operated by remote control. The renovation also included all the roofs, which were originally covered with the typical Ticino granite. Visible natural stone walls and architectural details round off the authentic appearance of all four houses. The houses are furnished with modern furniture combined with selected antiques. Each floor and room exudes a cozy and comfortable atmosphere with its granite steps, wooden ceiling beams, original iron railings, inviting fireplaces in the kitchen and living room...

The main house is said to be the oldest house in Gordola and once stood in the middle of the vineyards. Through the solid wooden gate, the main entrance with the "Züri-Leu" emblem, you enter the spacious entrance hall. On this floor is the large kitchen, which welcomes the family around the large wooden table and open fire, just like in the old days in Ticino. The combination of old stone troughs, cupboards set into the wide walls, granite floors and the modern kitchen is beautiful. The various bedrooms with separate bathrooms are tastefully decorated with antique cupboards and lamps. In the converted, spacious attic, which is accessed via an iron staircase, the view extends as far as Lake Maggiore and lets in the evening sun. The large, high-ceilinged room, in which the living room and dining room are located, is skillfully furnished with cozy, bright  sofas, tables and armchairs. The ground-floor fireplace fits perfectly into this scene. Half a level down you will find a kitchen, which was modeled after a ship's kitchen and specially made by the owner and enthusiastic sailor.

In the middle of this house with a view of old, thick exposed beams, you enter the bedroom. The wet room and wardrobe have been cleverly disguised as a wooden cabin. The thick brickwork allows for various seating areas and built-in cupboards. Children and teenagers can use a small ladder to access their own realm in the attic room with a hatch to the romantic courtyard.

In addition to the enchanting houses, the masterpiece of this property is undoubtedly the old "trotte" or "torchio". Immerse yourself in the cellar vaults and feel like you've been transported back in time, as the second oldest wine press in Ticino is historically documented here. A fantastically well-preserved masterpiece of ancient craftsmanship. A loggia with a thick wooden table and chairs invites you to taste the wine. There is plenty of room here for wine and the good things in life. The three vaulted cellars, one above the other, are ideal for a wine shop. Why not set up a "Grotto Torchio", make your own bread, revive old recipes and pursue a dream? A staircase above the trotto leads to another residential unit. The garage, which is attached to this trotte, can accommodate two small cars or a larger off-road vehicle.

An old, very well-preserved, detached bakery with an original oven from the Wilhelminian era rounds off this incredibly historic ensemble. In this building there is a room used as an office.

Let yourself be caught up in the magic of times gone by. This is a place suitable for artists, for wine lovers, for people in search of something out of the ordinary
