Eine uralte Handelsroute und ein Postweg: Die Gemmi war einst der meistbegangene Pass der Alpen! It connects the cantons of Bern and Wallis. Der Gemmipass

Eine uralte Handelsroute und ein Postweg: Die Gemmi war einst der meistbegangene Pass der Alpen! Er verbindet die Kantone Bern und Wallis. Mitten auf dem Pass auf 2061 m.ü.M. steht eines der ältesten Gasthäuser des alpinen Wallis: Das Berghotel Schwarenbach. Damals wie heute steht das Berggasthaus am richtigen Ort; es ist Etappenziel oder Ausgangslage für Bergtouren und zahlreiche Wanderungen.

Ab Kandersteg fährt man bequem mit er Sunnbühlbahn hoch und wandert in einer guten Stunde mit nur knapp 200m Höhenunterschied zum Berghotel Schwarenbach. Von der Seite Leukerbad im Wallis erreicht man das Berghotel über die Gemmibahn und den gleichnamigen Pass nach ca. 1,5h mit einem angenehmen Höhenunterschied nach unten um 250m. 

Damit gilt es auch als beliebtes Wanderziel für weniger Sportliche und Familien und geniesst damit grosse Beliebtheit.

Der Standort bietet inmitten der Abgeschiedenheit der Hochalpen einen Hort der Erholung. Räumlichkeiten
