Description of the property
This unique single-family house was built in 2003 by the well-known architects Aschwanden + Schürer, at the foot of the Gonzen mountain, above Sargans.
The monolithic design is inspired by the mighty Gonzen rock above or a boulder. The internal layout of the house is surprisingly spacious, thanks to a central four-flight staircase and the arrangement of the rooms around it. The rooms adjacent to the staircase are therefore at different heights and have different ceiling heights, which creates a strong spatial relationship and a generous feeling of space throughout the house.
The building blends perfectly into the landscape, together with the almost exclusively used mineral materials, such as the exposed concrete façade.
The house has been extended with an exclusive stainless steel infinity pool with direct surroundings and garden design. Almost the entire garden and all the living rooms offer an incredible view of the Sarganserland in the direction of Luzisteig, the Grisons and the five villages.
The house can be accessed either via the private double garage with 2 additional outdoor parking spaces or via the side natural granite stone staircase and the main entrance. On the living floor, there is the entrance with a guest toilet, a dining area with seating, the kitchen and the light-flooded living room. On the gallery floor, there are two more bedrooms and a bathroom with a bathtub. The bedrooms and the second bathroom with a shower are located on the sleeping floor, which is above the basement with various ancillary rooms. Each room can be reached directly via the central staircase. The plaster and concrete allow the rooms to be used to their full potential. The colors red for the kitchen, green and blue with mosaic for the two bathrooms were used as color elements. The entrance area is also clad in warm elm wood.
The rock on the Gonzen is a multiple-documented architectural masterpiece and a spacious, modern home in a fantastic sunny, quiet and unobstructed location with a stunning view.
